Power is made between cylinder head and cam choice. AFR heads are the best aluminum head you can buy but they aren't cheap. A set of AFR's will set you back 1500.00 alone. They make EXCELLENT power when combined with the rest of the engine being built to match. The heads can be used on a 383 and will flow everything you'll ever need. One thing to remember is that for making low end torque you want a cylinder head with a small intake runner volume 180cc's and under. The small runner builds low end velocity within the runner and helps to force more air and fuel into the cylinder at a faster rate than a head with a larger runner. The larger the runner the more top end HP you're going to get but at the expense of low end torque.
