will heads off a 350 work on a 305 ? help please !!!!!!
they will "work". I think it will lower the compression more than would be desireable though. Since 305s have 58cc heads and not more compression to my knowledge than a 350. The bigger 350 chambers would lower the compression.
most 350's have 76cc heads. You could get lucky and get a set of 64cc heads, but those are hard to find today unless you go aftermarket. Keep in mind that a machine shop can plane down your heads to the desired cc.
Also, the bigger 2.02 intake valve version heads will not fit on a 305 as the cylinder is physically too small.
Some 305s have 76cc heads. It will work fine.
The '80s 305s with 58cc heads have up to 9.6:1 compression! Putting a better flowing, smaller chamber set of heads on them from a 350 may actually be an improvement.
THey can only be machined down so far. I know pontiac heads can only go about 10ccs smaller, don't know about chevys. As well the 2.02s could maybe fit on a 305 but there would have to be enough deck material to enlarge the area in the bore. I forget what this process is called. Not sure if it is doable on a 305. As well it would lower compression. But 2.02 heads same as 64cc are not very common
