I am wanting to build a motor for my ride this winter and am wondering with my truck being a 1990 (computer controlled), do i need a specific core to rebuild or does it not matter?

Heads are the main difference, but that block will use a one piece rear main, meaning the block, crank, and flexplate/flywheel are different than pre '87.(think that's the right year break)

A good core would be a car block from '87+, roller cams in all of them.

The difference for TBI is the head intake bolt pattern, and the fact that radical cams etc. require fine tuning through the ECM.
