350 tranny governor question

well it was too easy of an answer i guess..

here we go again...

different day different problem

Hoping you guys can help me out again...finally got my truck running but i still don't have passing gear despite finding that rocker binding by the filter..

the cable works now its adjusted properly on the carb, max pull at WOT

but i talked to a tranny guy today and he said that my B and M shift kit could effect the way the passing gear works...

anybody have any opinions,thoughts?

thanks in advance..

Did you have a good look at that lever when the pan was off ? they have a tendency to crack in the corners and fold up/bend keeping them from fully depressing the valve when the throttle is wide open. Speaking of throttle. Have someone sit in the truck while you are at the engine and have them push the throttle to the floor. Are you getting absolute wide open throttle at the carb? This could be the problem as well.Post the fix:D

no i was so elated that i found it binding on the filter that i did not pay attention, is that a serviceable part if it is defective, or do i have to replace the valve body?

what about the shift kit interfering with the kick down is that true?

as far as the connection at the carb, I had to add a bolt in the slider to make sure i had full pull at WOT, i do now

The lever is a separately available part if you need one. I doubt the shift kit will have anything to do with the kickdown function. You may also need to raise the governor rpm some if you have swapped to a steep gear in the diffs. Did you verify wide open throttle operation from inside the truck?

i did have to put a bolt in the slider part of the cable but the best i can tell i do have full pull

i dropped the pan and took a quick video...open and closing the valve by way of the detent cable...i'm guessing since there is fluid that is coming out when the valve is opened must mean there is nothing wrong with the valve and the problem is somewhere within the linkage...does that sound correct?
