I have to replace my old 2 core rad in my 91 blazer and would like to install a 4 core. Does anyone know of a article that would guide me and will my 350 tib engine operate OK with the larger capacity rad?

Put a heavy duty 4 core on my '89 Burb with a 350. Only mod I had to do was the 2 brackets on the top that hold it in place were too short for the thicker radiator. Brother-in-law found the longer brackets at the junkyard cheap. But other than that it bolted right in, no problems hooking up the tranny cooler. It was easier than I though it was gonna be. Ain't lost a drop of fluid since I did it.

Thanks, I will go to town and visit pick-n-pull and pick up the brackets for the top' I appreciate it and will keep checking this thread to see anyone elses ideas. Not sure how to post, this is just my second time I think, but wont be the last.

I had to "modify" my fan shroud a tad, mainly just the sides that sit up against the radiator, had to trim some off so the shroud was not too close to the engine, or too far onto the fan mainly.

Works great though, i went that route because i lived in Phoenix, also went with a heavy duty fan clutch, thing always runs right at t-stat level.

Now i'm back in a cooler weather climate part of the country, and it takes alittle longer for it to warm up to operating temps.. :doah:

I'm going with the 6.2/454 rad from a 91 V3500 in my 91 K5. I had the deeper brackets already, just ordered the new rubber insulators from GM. I noticed that the core support has provisions top and bottom for this swap and there are already threaded holes at the top for the bracket. Only other think is what 4xcrazy said, fan shroud mods. I'll be using windstar fans. I talked to a local guy who said he may have the correct shroud incase I didnt get elec fans soon enough. If your interested I can check with him.

off topic kinda but how the hell does one go about removing the lower shroud on the two piece style? im putting a bbc radiator in my k5 but havent even started. just stopped at the lower shroud for some reason. id like to remove it without breaking out the strength of five gorillas.

I want to thank everyone that replied to my thread. I still have a lot to learn on how to use the forum. I usually just read everything I can and don't ask any questions. You guys really gave me alot of help with my issue and I really appreciate it. I will have alot more questions since I am doing the work myself after leaving my blazer at a machanic friends house for 5 years and he barely did any work on it. I was out of town alot working and could not move it due to him removing both front and rear axels and leaving it on blocks. I hope to have it completed by April of next year at the latest.
