Hey folks, I need some help figuring out what I need to get for a 4 inch lift on my burb? Here is what I have planned so far, please let me know if anything is incorrect.

From DIY4X:
Cross tie shackles $38
Shackle flip and switch $170

I know I want to use Tuff Country springs upfront, but I am unsure whether to get the E-Z rides or heavy duty set. I will have a small block with a big heavy front bumper. Any opinions on what would be best? Looks like Off Road Design has the best price at $225 and $75 for the new steering arm.

Is there anything else that I need to plan on? Longer brakelines? Pinion shims?

Thanks for the help.

Looking to run either 33 or 35s 10.50"-12.50" wide, what would ya'll suggest for a mostly street driven truck that does some towing?

I think you have everything you need. ive had tuff country springs on my truck for about 4 years now and there still great. I dont think you need hd springs in front. I think you will be close with the 35s if you plan on flexin it out, maybe some fender trim will be needed. good luck

No real flexin just on road driving and occaisional dirt road/field. I will probably stick with some 33s but still thinking about the 35s. Anyone know if the pinion shims and brake lines are required or does it vary by truck as to whether or not it is needed?

If your brake lines still look good there is no need to change them. If you go bigger than 4 inch you should change them. If your only ocasional off road than 35s should be fine, there lots of people on here with subs that have more experience with that. You should not need shims with a 4 inch

Sweet! Looks like I am going to have to start saving some pennies then. One thing I forgot about: shocks. What are most people using? Ranchos, Bilstein, or something else?

Well since this will be mostly for street and light wheeling while hunting I want to keep the stock length for better drivability. I am looking at the 4" lift, maybe a 1-2" body lift, 35x12.50 BFG A/T K/O with 15X10 wheels, and 4.10 gears. I think I will go with the HD tuff country springs. The description list them as better for bigblocks, large bumpers, etc. I know a big bumper is in order, and who knows I may decide to throw my 496 in eventually.

HD Springs are a good idea. The only difference is the overload spring. Get the HD set and if you change your mind, you can pull the bottom leaf.

With a shackle flip, you will need axle shims. Unless you are getting a rear CV shaft. I basically did the same thing to my CUCV. ORD and DIY4 are both good choices. 35s will fit with no body lift. I had them on with no lift at all. Some trimming. With the 4" lift it should be easy. A 2.5" lift might be even better for 35s.

So are you saying that I could do 35x12.50 with a 4" lift and no trimming? Where can I get the axle shims and what size is needed?

There are a lot of variables as you probably know. Wheel offset will determine how much, if any trimming is needed.

The shims that I found that I like are at JKW Offroad. They bolt right to the spring pack and will seat on the axle better. There are a lot of variables here as well. Shackle length, shackle flip, shackle angle, LWB/SWB, type of driveshaft, etc. all help to determine your angle. Get an angle finder to figure out what you need.

You may not need the shims even with the stock driveshaft. When I did my first K5 I did a flip in the rear and ran it with the stock driveshaft pointed up like you would with a CV shaft and had no vibrations. I think it is kinds trial and error. Also if it is not really doing any serious off road stuff then just run blocks in the back and skip the flip. Just order a Tuff Country 4" kit for your Burb and toss some 35's on it and call it good. That is what I would do if it is just a driver. I plan to eventually do this to my daily driver K5.
