I've never messed with SM-465s before, don't know the differences if any at all. Trying to find out how to put the 2 together. Guess the 4wds have 10 spline, and the 2wds have 35? Anybody?

I know it's been done before.

I believe you need a round pattern adapter and swap the GM input gear into the Ford case. If you search around I think you'll find the info. Maybe check over at Pirate too.

early sm465 had the 10 spline output in the 80's they switched to 32 spline and all the ford np205's had 31 spline inputs according to offroad design.

to marry the two you

could switch out the 31 spline input for a gm 32, may require machining.

or find a gm np 203 to use with your ford 205 and do a super flat belly doubler.

don't know about the 35 spline 2wd part

if you were closer i have a 465 205 combo laying in my back yard i would try to talk you into using

Don't want to go with a doubler, just want to try a 4 speed. Never had one, and drove one for bout a week, kinda liked it.

I have access to at least three 465/205 combo's, one is in an 86 1 ton that I parted out. Getting a Ford case is easy, and since I already have the combo, should be just a matter of swapping the inputs, and opening up a couple of the adaptor holes.
