400 - 2bolt or 4bolt?

    Just curious...
    I've heard if you're going to build up a 400 block it is more desirable to get a 2 bolt main block and then have splayed caps?
    Any oppinions on this?

    That's correct. The 400 small block with 4 bolts were weaker than the 2 bolt ones. Finding a 2 bolt main block and having it made into a 4 bolt with splayed end bolts is much stronger.

    You are correct. But you probably wouldn't need to go to the trouble unless you are going to build a motor with massive horsepower.
