454 Engine Upgrade, Build or Buy?

I don't remember, I sent a PM to my engine guy and I will post up when I find out. I know he had to bore and re-seat to get them to fit. Way bigger than stock.

My 454 is on a no carb diet, that is Edelbrock's MPFI sittin on top /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

Yeh im gonna be upgrading to that MPFI, and ditching the edelbrock tbi-mpfi conversion sometime after feb of next yr (last smog test). Also do a bigger cam at the same time. Woohoo! *now taking donations to the make a better 496 fund*

I have heard the tuning can be tuff but like everything else, a little trial and error mixed with becomming familar with all the numbers should be the magic potion for spinning all 4 swampers /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

well, thats the MPFI that has the hand held, in cab tuner w/ it correct? I asked edelbrock about tuning with it, and they said you can adjust up to 50% off the baseline with it, so really, just have a chip in the ballpark, and then toy w/ it. Thats why I like the edelbrock setup, dont have to have a laptop.

Yup the hand held unit is said to beable to adjust as you drive. and there is a default setting to start with. The chip that goes into the computer is custom burned by Edlebrock to your cam specs. At first I won't have a oxy sensor in my exhaust. I talked with Edelbrock about that and they said it will run fine but it will never go into a closed loop until the Oxy sensor is installed. I'm only going to run it like that for the cam break-in and getting it to the exhaust shop to run new pipes w/ new Flows.
