So a guy here by me has a 465-205 combo for 299.00
is it worth it?
I got mine for $50.:D The other one I have is in a truck I got (fisher plow, 29,372 miles) for $350. Sometimes it is cheaper to get the whole truck. I also payed $350 for the one in my blazer, but that had the aluminum top.:D

hey skyyk5 I need the part number(s) for the two oil seals on the adapter itself.

How did you get the countershaft out of the sm465 case? I have the large bearing off already, I cant get my puller on the small one in the front, seems like thats the hang up but maybe i am wrong.
The rebuild kits didn't have good diagrams, so I gotta pull them and match them up. The adaptor is off and waiting, so as soon as I get a chance I'll get the #'s for you. As for the counter shalf, I only got the top cover off so far. I moved to twin sticking the 205, since I saw a gear that was alittle chewed up. I was going to pull the one out of my truck and make one good one. But I might have to build another truck really fast. So the trans might get put off till after April 1st. I have to swap another 465 in place of a 700r4. I'll try to get the seal #'s this weekend for everyone.

Sorry I didn't get to work on anything last weekend. But I have to this weekend. I'll get those #'s!

anyone ever thought of putting the 465 and 205 in one of them steam cleaner things? (the one where you put it in the container and close the door and set the timer) i dont know what its called, it has steaming hot water that is pressurized . cleans stuff really well. any negative effects to that?

Do you mean a hot tank that they use for cleaning engine blocks , cranks , heads, & other parts at an automotive machine shop ???
That is how I cleaned mine.

Or the old pressure washer works too (but you wear most of the gunk from the tranny by the time you are done)

Thats how I did mine, easy off, let it bake in the sun till dried, then powerwash with the gasoline powered pressure washer, and wirewheel the rest of the really tough stuff off, give it another shot of easy off to get the rest of the gunk off that doesn't come off with the wirewheel. Before you paint it or anything, crack a PTO cover to drain any water that may have gotten inside, then replace both PTO seals, and the top cover seal, paint, and enjoy your brand new looking transmission.

If anyone needs / wants it, I've got a copy of the rebuild manual for the SM465 on my server at www.zieglerdigital.ca/public/downloads/sm465rbman.pdf

M adaptor only had one oil seal in it. This is from a short, 10 spline adaptor. The seal reads---NATIONAL 3968050 PAT
