NY 4L80E 4x- want 2x

fyi to convert = almost full tear down . to add in the rear tone ring .

have you pulled the plug or sensor in the rear hole and looked in for the possible off chance it has the 2wd tone ring there ?

i do have the 2wd fixed yoke shaft and aluminum tail housing from a fresh reman gm trans i had swapped to 4x4 guts .

you do need the freeze plug with pin hole in it for the 3 o'clock position on the tail end of the case before the housing is bolted on . the 4x4 is solid and 2wd has a pin hole to lube the bearing in the back end .

If you happen to have the output speed sensor, you could just buy this. It says it is for a TH400 in some places and a 4L80E in others so I am not sure which one it is supposed to fit but the 4L80E is 5/8" longer and has a slightly larger indexing ring. The guy started posting on pirate4x4 and said he would custom make things to your specs so I bet he would make one for the 4L80E.

I am having the trans completely rebuilt. by someone who know more than me! but it's a slip yoke shaft in the truck now. I haven't taken anything apart.

Interesting. But being a crew cab, A longer driveshaft would be a pain.. Shorter, is fine. Cheaper/easier to cut one, than to extend it.

Bummer you are so far away. I have a good working 2wd 4L80E that I would trade on a good working 4x4 one. The internet makes the country seem so small when it is so huge in reality.
