Do they make such an adapter?? I was told that they ran them in only one model for a year or two?? Does anyone know how to mate the two together.

Correct, but very hard to find.
I also believe it makes a difference which input shaft you are using (long vs. short).

You can use a 85-90 TH400/NP205 adapter and machine it slightly to fit the 4L80E case.

It would only matter if you doing something custom. The 85-up 205 adapters are round pattern. All the round pattern 205s (85-up) have the long input shaft.
