Looking to have a roll cage built and have been looking for ideas. I saw a 5 point one online that was attached to the windshield frame. Has anyone else done this? Thought about doing it and is there any shops that could build this?

Mine isn't attached to the windshield frame but it is near it and sticks up above it. Custom made at a shop that is no longer in business.

Welcome to the site, there are several people here who do some tube bending or can guide you in the right direction. Perhaps buy a premade one and add to it. You will hear this alot, "Needs more Triangulation!"

Diy4x.com makes a cage kit for 73-87(91) trucks/Blazers/Subs, maybe call them and see if anyone has used the kit in a first gen.

I put one of these kits in my 91 Blazer and tied the cage to the windshield frame where the hard top brackets bolt on. I've had it out wheeling a few times and it doesn't seem to hate it, I still intend to add a tie in to the sides inside the dash at some point.

Would you trust your windshield to save you in a rollover? The halo without the A pillar support is a waste of tube.

@skunked I completely misread that post but I see it now, I thought the windshield reference was for a tie in to brace it up. I totally agree that the windshield frame isn’t strong enough to help at all.

Probably thinking about mine. Mostly for show.
