Got a person here whose looking at swapping out a 350 for a 6.2 in his 93 shortbed half ton chevy. Just wondering if anyone knows what complications arise is a swap in these trucks. Also need to know if the vacuum pump can be made to work to run the booster, guy doesn't want to upgrade to hydroboost yet. I know the 94-98 dodges did it, but I didn't know about this set up, if it was feasible or not, or just beyond the vacuum pump's capability. Its getting bolted to a 4l60 trans, got a diesel flexplate and tc already. Any input appreciated, just doing some research for him.

PS Already aware of the general diesel conversion items,(diesel tech here) just need to know specifics for 93 model year, what works and what doesn't.

I'm going to suggest you look over at thedieselplace.com. Lots of good info and may already be a thread or sticky on this.

The vac pump on a 6.2 is not sufficient to run the brake booster. Hopefully that answers your one specific question.

That model was offered with the 6.2 then with the 6.5 so fitment will not be a problem, the only thing to figure out are differences between the gas model truck and the diesel ones and get the appropriate parts.
It's all bolt in swap.
You will need the right radiator, TC which you got, I believe motor mounts are the same.
The only obstacle is the vacuum and he might have to switch even if he doesn't want to.
On the cummins, the vacuum pump is bigger stronger so it could work, not so with the GM 6.2 pump.
