I have a 6.2 diesel that I turboed 3 years ago with a turbo from a 6.5. I am doing headgaskets and arp studs because I blew a headgasket recently. I am considering using .10 thicker head gaskets but am concerned about whether or not I would have issues with the stock pushrod length. I am also considering using the 6.5 head gasket because rumor has it those gaskets are better able to handle boost. The engine is a 1982.
Any input is welcome.
Thanks

I think you'll already be drastically ahead using the ARP studs. The stock TTY headbolts are garbage and IMO cause quite a few head gasket failures. My '83 needed head gaskets...when I was dis-assembling it I found three TTY's almost finger loose. Well under 20 lbs on em. No question in my mind they had been overstretched.

Haven't had an issue since the ARP studs and new gaskets.

That's about what I found when I unbuttoned mine. I was shocked how loose some were. I would never put any engine back together with bolts. I think they are inferior in every way. Bolts are cheap up front but the problems they cause are priceless.

I dont know that the headgaskets are any better, but you might want to research whether they are interchangeable for sure. I have seen 6.2 and 6.5 gaskets with different coolant ports.

you are miles ahead using studs. What do they reccomend for torque with the studs?

According to their instructions with arp ultra torque lube its 90ft lbs.
I am using gaskets that say they don't need re-torqued but I will probably put 1000 easy miles on it and pull the valve covers and check. Its probably not necessary but its relatively easy to do.
