6.2 diesel vs. 350

The 6.2L uses the same oil filer, and same amount of oil as a SBC or BBC.

it seems i always get sucked into these threads. :) the 6.2 has an oil capacity of 7 or 8 quarts, can't remember off hand. so, it does use more oil. recently, there was another thread posted up about this topic where tRustyk5 posted up a dyno sheet which showed over 400 #ft at the rear wheels and something like 200 hp. iirc, this was with a th400, so add 30% for drivetrain loss, and you're well into the 500 #ft range.

So really if I had a 6.2 putting out 400#ft and over 200hp, I wouldnt be too far away from the numbers my 350 makes, although I figure my 350 has to at least make around 300 hp.

i was debating over this same exact thing when i was shopping for an old work truck recently,

i ended up with the 77 k10 with the sbc400 yesterday

i know those engines have decent torque

and the diesel prices are so far up now that it would breaka bout even between a gas and a diesel rig

so..

but i sstill would have loved to have found a 6.2L rig to snag up, jut for fun, nd to pull trailers with, but it seems they dont have much mroe torque than a good gas engine does,

except for the old caddy and chevy big blocks, those were torque monsters now

but imagine the gas useage with those engines now

damn
