I am working on a 6.5 turbo install on my 1986 K30 6.2. I have a question regarding the injectors. I have test fit the right side turbo manifold and it hits the middle two injectors pretty good. I know people are running stacked manifold gaskets to clear the long injectors or I was thinking about cutting a spacer at work to move the manifold out.

My truck has the long style 6.2 injectors. I also have a full set of 6.5 injectors and injector lines off the donor truck but these injectors are in unknown condition where as my truck only has 16k miles on it.

So I realized I could go buy two new short style 6.2 injectors (from like a 92 6.2 $36 a piece) and these should flow the same and have the same pop pressure as the existing injectors just shorter in length right?? This should give me plenty of clearance on the manifold with no spacers with no other issues.

Then which Injector line set should I use? Are the lengths matched? I have the correct line set for the short 6.5 injectors or I could bend the existing lines. I am just not sure if the length of the lines are critical?

Thanks in advance.

The length of the lines is super important. If you change to the 6.5td set of lines you need to use the complete set. You're kinda stuck either making a spacer for the manifold or swapping to the short style of injectors.

I was afraid of that thanks for confirming. I am going to work on mocking up a spacer in CAD. If that doesn't work out I could always switch all to the short style injector for relatively cheap.

Thanks

I have seen 6.2's in 80's vans (G series) that have shorter injectors due to the doghouse clearances being so tight...saw one in a local salvage yard a few weeks ago...it also had a funky CDR valve arrangement too..not the same as a pickup would have..
I imagine all the other parts like the lines all have to go together as a matched set..

I was told when doing a 6.5 turbo swap you need to switch to the shorter injectors for this very reason. My advice is take your short 6.5 injectors use them as cores for a new set.
