6.2L alternator upgrade

The main reason I upgraded the alternator was because the OEM one died (likely because of mud and water), though I do have a winch so it now has a much quicker recovery time.

Yes, there is an adaptor plug that goes between the new CS144 and original plug on the Blazer.

They do make hot-rodded 10SI alternators that put out more max amps, but those max amps only come at high rpms. The CS144 is kinda' like a big-block or diesel while the 10SI is a turbocharged 4-cylinder as the CS144 will put out higher amps at low rpm where as the hot-rodded 10SI requires to be run very fast.

Digging this up again.

Got a note from Rock Auto today and they list a 100amp CS130 alternator as being available at a wholesaler closeout price.

It's listed under '89 Blazer K5 with the 6.2L diesel but I noticed all the CS130 pics they show have a serp belt setup. Am I missing something, does the CS130 have a V-belt version, or are they screwing up and that shouldn't be there?

I don't know if they ever were offered with V belt but one autozone I bought from swaped it for me.
SOme places will do that.

I don't think my CS144 ever came in a factory vehicle with a v-belt but the company I bought it from just swapped in a V-belt pulley. Most likely the issue is that the gas engined K5's, by far the vast majority of them, of that era had serpentine belts but the diesels did not. I've ran into issues like this quite a bit on my '90 over the years where they sell a part meant for a gas version but it is different than the diesel version.
