6.2l Deisel swap for 350?

Hrmm I was getting around 15-16 with my CC. It was a 6.5 td turbo 400 8 inch lift and 38's about the same with 35's and 4.10's My blazer has 4.10s on 33's and the turbo 400 so mileage could be better. Cant wait for the Nv4500

what is GOOD diesel mileage, 88 1 ton 6.2 400t 4.56 gears 37" bfg's 10 mpg highway!!!!!!!!
You're geared too low. Engine has to be screaming on the highway without OD and that configuration. Mine sounded like the end of the world in that configuration at 60mph. It's quieter with the 38's but still not happy past 65.

How big of tires do you want to run?

Without an OD trans 3.73's are great for 36-37" tires to keep the engine happy and be able to do 60+ mph.

Have you looked at doing a 6.0L swap? They can be had turnkey for 2k with less then 50K on them. The 6.2's can't touch them. The Lq9 6.0L makes over 300 ft lbs at 1000 rpm and has 350 hp. Hard to beat those numbers for the price, not to mention you get modern fuel injection.

The swap is fairly simple. Check out this thread... some good info in there. http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2496933#post2496933

Geared too low. Not for the advertised 130HP. I added a doubler to go slower.

I'm planning 4" lift W/35" tires. The highway speed in oregon is only 65 mph. That is as fast as i need to go. Mostly just like to crawl down the trails. But i need to get the tires spinning from time to time. With the setup now if i'm nose down an incline i cant backup without dropping into low range. I dont like that!

i have 4:10s, a 4inch on the front....lol, and 35s....it screams still tho but she goes 60-65... i checked my last tank of fuel i got 17 mpg with my 6.2, thats 14 miles a day for work...

IIRC several years ago when i had my 86 blazer with the 6.2 diesel ( unfortunately it blew) i swapped in a 350 small block and didnt have to change the wiring harness or gauge cluster.............i used the pink wire that powered the injector pump on the diesel for the power wire to the hei on the 350 , my motor mounts matched up as well as the 350 exhaust manifolds matched up to the existing original exhaust!! i do seem to remember having to do something with the power steering hose , although i cant recall exactly what it was...as far as the wiring harness i just got rid of the wires that werent used any more...( glow plug wiring and so forth) , the gauge cluster also worked fine ....just the fuel gauge said diesel fuel only......lol

my stock 1986 M1009, see sig for specs, gets 15-17 around town (mostly due to the tall gearing), and 20-23 on the highway at 60mph. i run my tires at about 42 psi.

i did my swap in a 1986 blazer that i no longer own.........but my current 83 blazer was also a 6.2 and the previous owner swapped it for a gas engine!!! personnally i love the diesel.....great gas mileage ...low end torque ,very dependable as long as you maintain it properly, ect. if i had my choice i would switch back to the diesel , but that is just my preference .......i like the gas motor as well .........you just lose your gas mileage and have to do more to it to get anywhere close to the reliability and torque of the diesel , i will say this .........when and if my gas engine goes there will be another 6.2 in mine!!! but as far as the swap from diesel to gas ......it is pretty straight forward........and not too much of a hassle..........really it all depend on how you intend to use the vehicle ......so it is your choice on which way to go with it
