Gary got the assemblies finished over the weekend. Many many pictures of progress and the problems he ran into during assembly, and explanation of how each was made right. One in particular is GM specs .002-.008 end play on the bearing assemblies, but Gary builds them to a rotational spec with new bearings, so its only a few inch pounds to rotate the axleshaft. That requires parallel grinding the bearing spacer and trial fitting to achieve the desired rotational spec. Time consuming but perfection is the end result. Another is touching up the rotor to achieve minimal runout. The less runout the less chance for the Vette calipers to leak.

Anybody try checking out if your engine was "numbers matching"?
I was sitting under a shade tree a couple rows from my car, but there were some lookers, not sure if they were looking that close though? Still makes me glad I-put it there. I can appreciate the work that goes into a thorough restoration at that level, but some of those cars don't ever get driven more than on/off the trailer. Just not my thing.

Last sale I saw for a 68-69 L88 was over 435k!
This was a video I took at my local track, the class was FAST…Factory Appearing Stock Tire. The 69 L88 (t400) vs 66 L72. The L88 has run high 10’s….11.11 on this hot day. The 66 had shifting issues on this pass.
the L72 car by comparison, had ran 13.15 and an LT-1 ran 13.52. Again, a hot and humid day at the track.
Im happy with my 12.70’s 327!

This was my late friend ross's split window 427 tri power 4speed car with tons of vintage correct parts on it . He had this pic taken the last time he was up to watkins glen road race track that nascar has races at near us . The pic was him driving and his best friend in the pass seat .

He always had it out on nice sundays and enjoyed it . Said the best mod that made it a joy to drive was methanol injection kit .

Figure would like to see the pic zimm . . .

After he passed it went to mikes vetts in the mid west i heard . He did save all the original stuff with the car and it was included with it .

friend of mine just scored a nice 69 350drop top 4speed 4.111 posi car all original minus the engine . . .

he wants to build a engine for it and he has always talked about a bad a$$ 302 build . . . he has almost all the parts along with some HUGE aluminum heads he can toss together for it . i just wana see a BUILT 302 in a old vette for some reason . . . :burnout:

FAST is amazing to watch a 9 second car get off on F70-15’s! Much like the newer COPO’s etc running 7’s on a 9” slick…:eek1::bow:

make that 302 a 10k screamer!
