Total forum newbie, so bear with me guys! I have a '69 I'm very slowly working on. My next step is putting a lift on. Going with a 6". The guy I bought it from put 3/4 ton running gear on it already (I don't know what exactly it came off of). Has anyone done this to theirs? Would you suggest buying a kit or piecing it together myself? What size tires were you able to fit? Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to share pics of your rig too!!!

I have a '70 K10 that I built years ago. I started with a 4" Tuff County EZ ride.
I tried Rancho adjustable shocks first, then Bilstien. Years later, after researching on here, I stepped up and got a set of custom front springs from Off-road Design. It was the best decision I had made for my satisfaction with the truck in years. Lots of others will say that ORD is too expensive, but the difference in the ride was amazing !!!
I offer to give any member who happens by my part of Colorado a ride so that they can see what I mean.

On the rear, a bunch of us will recommend using a shackle flip, and then you would need a 2" lift spring with it. It keeps the spring flatter and will give a better ride. However, the shackle flip, and most off the shelf rear lift springs, make the rear axle move forward in the wheel opening. It looks kinda off, so a Zero-rate , (ORD has them) let's you move the axle back an inch and also lifts the springs an inch. I believe that they came out with a way to move the axle with less lift now.

May I ask what you want to do with the truck , what kind of wheeling? How much highway time? I ask because the general rule for how much lift on a K5 before you run into driveshaft vibration issues is 4". Above that and things can get more involved to keep the driveshafts happy.

You should look around on here, this section and the driveway, and see what others have done, and what you like.

Quite a few have links to their build threads in their signature.

Welcome!!! And we hope that you enjoy the site and your truck!!!

Welcome @ChevyGirl8 ! Yes, a lot of us have upgraded axles, lifts etc.. What are you looking for as the end product, wheeler, daily driver etc.? Look through this thread for ideas on lift wheel size etc. https://ck5.com/forums/threads/how-will-my-k5-truck-look-with-xx-tires-on-xx-of-lift.170627/

Lets see some pics of your Blazer, dark blue 72?
Thanks! It's a '69, kinda baby blue but I plan to go orange with the paint eventually. I've always loved the blazers specifically this body style, so it's really just going to be my weekend toy. Appreciate the thread link!! I'll take some more pics soon.

Thanks! I appreciate the info. Was looking to go 6", but mainly just for the look. I'll do some off roading but nothing too crazy. I was definitely wondering about the drive shaft issues with a 6". So that's good to know! I'll be checking out ORD for sure!
