Picked up some timing tape today, had it set to 36 degrees by ear apparently. Dropped it back to 34, didn’t seem to run any different.

Tried popping the fuel filter housing out last week, the line and nut were seized together. Gave it a soak in kroil, it popped right apart today. Filter was collapsed/kinked and the spring holding it in was bent into a horseshoe shape. Couldn’t imagine how many years it’s been like that.

Upon my trip to work on Friday I was getting a fair bit of engine noise with the MP3 player on. I initially wired it off the radio wires. Ran a chassis ground, didn’t seem to help much. Than ran power right to the fuse panel, not perfect but I can live with it.

Noticed that I had a fair bit of static over the radio. So I rewired the aux module right to the fuse box instead of tapped into the stereo. That seemed to help take care of most of the noise.

Bought a cheap isolator off amazon and put that in last night as well. Seems to have cleared the last little bit of noise right up.

Looks good. I think I would just make her my permanent camper rig.

Prolly should.

Love me the big block torques, truck hardly grunts compared to the vortex 350 in the 97 Eh.

There really is no comparing a 350 to a 454.
My old shortbox even got better fuel mileage with the BB then the 350 and double the power. Not saying the mileage was great but it was better...if I didn’t drive it full retard! :D

It’ll be interesting to see how it miles out, I know when we towed lots it would get around 8-10mpg. I remember dad said they pushed a huge headwind once with the truck camper and the horse trailer, said it was pretty much 4mpg for that trip :haha:

My vortec seemed to get about 12mpg pulling a similar setup. Got about the same mileage in the flat lands with the truck camper as well.

I can see the 77 being quite similar to the 97 with the camper on fwiw.

Made er up into British Columbia.

Appears the fuel tank solenoid switch has kicked rocks. Upon checking it out, it is a single wire type solenoid. They are discontinued, looks like I’ll be having to update it to the new style switch.

So far I’m getting 11~12 mpg. No real difference than the 97 Fwiw.

The Standard FV1 is a generic replacement that is available. The only issue is the fittings are 5/16 hose while your original is 3/8 hose.
