ive got a 455 buick block that i currently have mated to an sm465 that im gona put in my 72k5 but the more i think bout it the less i wana nother truck with manual trans. thinkin id like to use either a 700r4 or a th400. is there adapter plates or do you just not use one of the bolt holes?

Jegs has BOP to Chevy adapter plates.

If you go th400, find one from a 6.2 diesel as they have the same BOP pattern. I am swapping in a pontiac 400 into my chevy and will be using an adapter i picked up off ebay for $70.

Eh, wrong. 6.2L's have the same pattern as Chevy's. Only the 350 Olds based diesel had the BOP pattern. The 6.2L and the 350 diesel are NOT related in any way other than using the same air cleaner housing last I knew.

Also a TH400 from a diesel will have internals not set up for a gas motor.

Easier than finding a 350 diesel-pattern TH400 would be a Buick or Olds or Caddy TH400 ... course, they'd be 2WD. Hmm. Either have to change tailshafts, or swap the guts from a 4WD tranny into a BOP case...

Carnak The Magnificent foresees some parts swapping in your future if you go the TH400 route.
