700r4 slipping?? is it gone

I got a 700r4 that is slipping when shifting to 2nd and sometimes 3rd when on the gas or going up a hill. But when i shift by hand, it wont slip. Is it toast or maybe just the tv needs to be adjusted??

Change the fluid. And readjust the TV cable.

In my experience, the first thing to crap out on a 700r4 is the overdrive. But slipping of any kind is usually bad news. When's the last time you serviced the sucker? Is the tranny actually slipping or is it just holding the gears too long? There's a big difference between the two.

Change the fuild and filter and get someone WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING to take a look at the TV cable setting. Be advised that changing out really dirty fluid sometimes leads to a quick death for a 700r4. ASk me how I know.......
