Hello All and thank you for all the answers to my New to forum questions.

I had a few muscle cars but always wanted a 71 Blazer like my brother had when I was a kid. I had been looking for a while and found it difficult to find one with the options I wanted and still be close to home and not half way across the country.
About a month ago a found a listing made on the morning of some nasty ice storms here in Texas and was able to get the guy to send me some pic's. The truck was what I was looking for:
1971 Blazer 4x4, AC, PS, PB, 350/350auto.

We haggled a little about the price but after about an hour I was the happy owner of the truck for $2500 including delivery from 120 miles away.

The truck was being used as a hunting truck till someone screwed up the wiring and it would not run then it was just planted In the field.

It is not a beauty queen but after removing front clip it looks like the only real rust repair will be door rockers.

Engine bad but will replace.

Not sure but I think I did OK....

Had a chance to empty it and wash it out last weekend. I have been lucky to find some good deals on parts I will be needing and just had new garage built so it should be a little easier to work on.

PS. You can't have too many pictures

Thanks

I pulled the fenders and was worried about just how bad the rust would be... I was surprised with what I found.

That's way more solid than what I started with! Nice snag. Can't believe you got it for $2,500 INCLUDING DELIVERY! Well done!

As mentioned, welcome to the club. Looking forward to the progress.

What NOT to do......

My next steps will be pressure washing the truck today before I bring her into my new garage, I will be lifting the body off the frame and then roll the frame outside and pressure wash it before cleaning and painting.

Are there any "Don't do this" tip's that you can list: (I,E)

1-Don't cut this...
2-Don't remove this....
3-Don't use this product.....

If you plan to remove the doors, build braces before removing it from the frame or making any cuts.

Is this a 68 or 69 rear seat ?

Hello again People...

I am trying to figure out if the rear seat that was in my 1971 Blazer is from a 1968 or 1969 ?

It looks to be a 1968 but you guys might know better then I do.

I have my set for 1971 so I am thinking someone with a 1968 might be in need of this seat..

There were no 68 blazers, so could be a 69 but didnt know there was a difference between 69's and 70-72 I think I heard the suburban middle was the same dimensions as the blazer rear seat but not sure on brackets. Was there ever an arm rest on the other side? If not could be from a suburban. What else is different from your correct seat?

-Jacob

Doesn't look like a blazer seat at all.

Rear Blazer seats have a tubular front mount, not and angled steel plate.

The single armrest looks suspiciously like a suburban (3-door) application.

Great find.... Much nicer than the '72 I am building. I use to run around in your area back in the day and am now just north of you in DFW. Good luck on the build. Nice to see someone doing a build that is in driving distance.

Stripping it down

Did the pressure wash and now have it in the garage. Most of the interior paint blow off with the pressure wash.

All in all I think it is cleaning up nice...

If you are looking for the rear seat there was one in shreveport. I was there last week and it was still in there. I got the top off it so it's wet now but hey its the seat that is supposed to be in there. It's a 72.

My seat in my 74 had floor mounts like that.

rocker panels..

I would like to know where I should buy replacement rocker panels, inner and outer..

where to buy and where NOT to buy them.
And if you have the correct part numbers for replacements.
