71 C20 gets a 5.3

Front suspension is all fixed up, it was missing one of the big bushing nut things on the passenger upper a arm. Put new bushing on both sides. It was my first time diving into a 2wd front, not sure how I feel about coil springs...they are kinda sketch.

Threw one of my 2500hd wheels on there to see how it would look. They pop up on cl all the time for cheap and I am not a big fan of the wheels on there. Leaning towards these or some 16 or 17" black steelies with hub caps.

Just waiting on some parts for some finishing touches and she will be ready to drive

I like 'em.

Coil springs take a while to get used to working with. Get a good set of compressors (the external kind) and just go slow.

The hub cap fad on here might seem cliche at this point but the look of that truck begs for them.

The original 71 fan I had on there was a little bent so I had a slight wobble. So it got swapped out for shinny new. Hopefully it didnt take out any bearing before I got it out.

When I pulled the gauge panel out to fix the backlights I broke another one of the mounting screw holes leaving me with the headlight/wiper switches and 2 screws holding it up. So I broke down and got a new one. I had to cut the spedo/tach holes to fit the 4" gauges but its in there. Still need to rewire the check engine light and high beam indicator, waiting on some smaller led's.

Also put in a retrosound radio. Seems like a pretty decent system on paper, pricey but I didnt have to cut up my dash. Just need to find a spot to mount my speakers. I am leaning towards just putting then in the lower part of the doors.

I just looked through your thread to find those. My widow seals are pretty bad so I think I need them if my speakers are going to last the rough California winters...

Upgraded the headlights with some '08 wrangler.

Pulled out the old lights out and swapped on a replacement plug for the h13 bulbs they wrangler lights run.

To use the wrangler lights you have to pull off the mounting brackets. 4 screws later you're left with this.

Swap the ring from the old light on there and bolt them up.

Granted they will be an improvement no matter what but I've always heard JK guys complain about their stock bulbs.

don't cut the doors :doah: for speakers .

and just make sure you have the headlights clocked correctly or the beam pattern will be off.

I plan on running them through a relay too so that will help. The stock ones looked like I was only running 4v. I plan on aiming them next week so I will make sure they are clocked right while I am at it.

I was looking at the doors and I think wiring might be a pain so they may be safe from the saw. My other option is a couple boxes under the seat which will be pretty tight. Not sure how they will sound under there too, probably would have to run something in the dash too

I'd love to upgrade my lights someday. The stock ones suck imo. Keep us updated on how you like the new ones.

Will do, I turned them on as I was leaving for work today ad they seem a lot better then stock. One of them is turned 90* though...

Mount speaker in door.
Pull fender.
Drill hole in door, for wires, and grommet.
Drill hole in "cab" under the dash area.
Run wires.
Re-install fender.

Its not that difficult.
And it looks PRO.

Yer gonna destroy kick panel speakers.
