'71 K5 Blazer CST "Mean Green"

I've wanted a first gen blazer or Jimmy for a long time. I want a lot of different vehicles actually, but only buy when I feel it's a good or great deal. Anyways I posted an ad on craigslist in search of 69-72 blazers and Jimmys. My phone was off the hook actually for a few weeks. Lots of over priced junk, and lots of nice ones way out of my spending range. A guy from Iowa got ahold of me last Friday and said he had a cst project. We talked about it for about 10 mins and then he said he'd send pics Saturday. He's the third owner and got it to restore, but decided it was more than he was up to do after bringing it home so it sat for a year or so. I got the pics and they showed normal rust and some tiny stuff missing. Made plans to go see it the following a Wednesday, and pulled it home with me. It's rusty, but complete and original, and that's what I wanted the most. Just some pics of the thing he sent and a few I snapped of it.

Some more. The wheel pic was taken to see if Marty could identify them as the stock gm wheels but he showed me the difference in them.

Love these trucks! When I was 16 I had a '70 that was the lighter green like your interior, I wish I still had it.

For some reason, to me (and I can't explain why) the first gens just have to have a manual. Good find!

The guy I knew sold all of his M1009 wheels. Someone offered him $80 a piece for them.

Damn. I'm sure something will come along. I don't know what exact hub cap would have come on here either.

Jealous. I want to come look at it sometime soon. I believe it should have the same caps as the yellow one at work.

Also, what is CST?

I believe CST is the highest level of trim you could get on these first gens, short for "custom", I'm sure someone who knows for sure will chime in. Nice blazer!

The one you guys have at work has the wrong steering wheel I've noticed. That's the 67-68 wheel. Pretty certain anyways.

I tore this old pig apart today to clean it up real good inside. I wanted to assess what rust it has in the floor. I honestly don't feel it's that bad.

I found some missing parts while cleaning the inside out. All in all I feel it was a good buy. Def have some rust to tackle, but it doesn't bug me so far. I just like the originality of it. It took damn near 20 mins to upload the pics and 12% of my battery so you better like them!

I'm gonna get it running and driving well before I dig any deeper on the body. Want to be able to drive it for a bit. Deep cleaning before the snow falls too.
