Fellas. My '72s doors shake and vibrate like crazy when on the trails. I don't do anything hardcore but just mostly moderate stuff and a fair amount of rough fire trail type of wheeling. Anything over 5-10 mph + the doors make a racket. The hinges seem to be in good shape as the sheetmetal around them. Is there any type of rubber shim or bumper that can be put on the locking mechanism side of the door jamb that will tighten up that area to keep the the movement down. Ideas? Seems like just the door latch thing is not enough.

I have similar problems. One thing you might try is to move the door latch that's bolted to the body inwards toward the inside of the truck. Then when you close the door, it'll contact those little rubber bumpers on the body a little more and cut down the rattling.

My rattling is way worse when the top is off though so I imagine body flexing is tough on the doors. I also added some rubber lining around the hinges of my tailgate pins and that stopped a ton of noise back there. The doors are all that's left.

Same as above, but check the lock mechanism in the door too. I am not sure about your year, but many vehicles have screws that hold the mechanism in the door. They may be loose, so just tighten them up.

Other than that, sometimes the connecting rods for the door opening and lock mechanisms hit the sheet metal. You can buy little pieces of felt with glue on the back and stick them on where the rods seem close to the metal.

Or do what a lot of the guys here seem to do ... just get rid of the doors! :)

I got a set of Door Rubber Bumpers (1 down low, & 1 up high) for each door and that helped out a great deal. LMC has them for $1.95 each.
