So now that I’ve got my ‘74 Jimmy up and running I’m looking to take care of some of the structural rust issues. Decided it’s beyond patch panels and have a lead on a clean ‘73 Blazer tub. I’m just wondering if there’s any significant differences I should be aware of before I buy it and take on the swap. My belief is that 73-75 are pretty much identical but if anyone has experience on this swap and can share their insight I’d appreciate it.

Yes it should be a direct bolt on swap . , There might be minor differences in the wiring . Not sure what year they went from points to HEI ignition . ( the 73 should be points) and that’s not a hard fix you just need to make sure you get rid of the resitor in the ignition wire. So the HEI gets a full 12-volts

Ok, good to know. I’m not sure what, if any, wiring is on the ‘73...it’s pretty stripped. My Jimmy has been converted to HEI already. Was considering doing a Painless harness at the same time if I can afford it, the Jimmy’s wiring could use some help anyway.

There are a few things that were 73 only. Like the window regulators/door panels. But I cant think of anything directly on the tub. Frames and body mounts are the same.

Ok, perfect. I’m gonna have to source doors and a front clip elsewhere anyway. My doors are rusted out and are missing glass/regulators. It’s just a rolling tub I’m looking at picking up.

One more thing the first year for a factory roll bar was 74, so if you have it, the 73 will not have the captured nut in the floor for it..
Otherwise I think it's a direct swap

Ok, sounds good. Just subtle things but pretty straight forward. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t gonna run into any big surprises
