what would be the most cost efficient replacement for a set of sho k to replace the original ones in my 73 blazer.
I fig while the rear metal is out might as well see what my options are to get a better ride down the road.

Also what years are interchangeable as I’m finding a few take off sets from newer and different chevys and wondering if that might be an option for better shocks and a cheaper price.

I dont have specific part numbers--but I've collected 4 "good used" rear shocks off newer GM pickups that had lifts installed or were just "upgraded" when the owner decided they wanted "new",and the originals were still low mile good units..(anything is better than whats on my pickup ,they may even be the 1982 originals )..

I looked up the truck one pair of the shocks came off of,on Rock Auto, and clicked on the "more info" button, which shows you the extended length and compressed lengths--the rears are slightly different than whats listed for my truck, but not by much as far as travel, they are close, and will work without any issues as far as that goes, but I was not able to get the "mounting code" that tells you what size bolt to use,the width of the bushing,etc--they look to me like they are the same on both ends compared to the ones on my truck though,so they should go right on..

I have an old Monroe catalog that has the break down of the extended/compressed lengths and mounting codes listed,it only goes up to 1992 though..

I have a good pair of Monroe Magnum 60's off one of my past trucks, but I cant recall which one, they may be off a 2WD,but it appears they too are "close enough" to bolt right on--I may need to use a shock stud mount to the frame on the upper mount--truck has other bigger issues at the moment so I have not got around to trying to replace the shocks yet..

Up till they went with dual front shocks which I think was early 80's.
Rear is the same from 73 to 91 for all 1/2 and 3/4 ton. Well 87 for pickups .
