73 k5 454 big block

I think it was swapped in. I've seen 2wd 1/2 tons, but I don't think they came factory 4wd 1/2 ton.

You are correct. GM did not install a big block in ANY 4x4 rigs from 1973-1980. In 1981-1987, the only way to get a big block in a 4x4 was the K30. No 4x4 Suburban came with a big block from 1973-1991, and no Blazer ever came with a big block.

My father had a 73 C10 " Cheyenne Super" and it was a plane jane lol. Might have had A/C....

AC was not part of a trim level. Separate option (RPO C60) that had nothing to do with trim level. Was also not available with the 6 cylinder engine early. I assume it was available with the late 6 cylinder, but I am not sure.

This post has really taken off, I hope we haven't scared off the new guy.

and never to be heard from again!

Seems we get at least one "I own the only one never built" thread, about every year or so here.......

Yeah, no need to mock him. Lots of people give out bad info on these rigs. He just believed something someone told him. It just turns out that that someone was wrong.

I have an original 1974 "Chevrolet Truck Data Book" which came from a dealer and listed all the options that were available for the K10. In every instance there is no 454 option. In fact, in the engine section they all say optional "except for K10 Blazer". They were an El Camino option and some pickups.

The 3/8" fuel line may be a good indicator on a car but all of there trucks have 3/8" feed lines (5/16" was a return).

It's not even a good indicator on a car. There were lots of small block cars (like my '69 and '70 Impalas) that got a 3/8 line even though other info states they should be 5/16 because they weren't a big block.

I just wish the dealer that originally ordered my K-5 would have checked the Delete Free Rust Box. I'm sure it was just below the LS6 engine option.

Makes you wonder how early on they were thinking about rust prevention and when and why they chose to start using it. The zinc primers have been around since before world war II...why did it take until late 1970s to use coatings?

Because they are in the industry of building trucks not preserving them.
