73 k5 blank slate

My extra 1" lift in the rear has been used up with a 33x12.50 spare, craftsmen tool box, tote full of all fluids, extra driveshaft, extra hubs, extra starter, a CO2 tank, a small floor jack, and a receiver hitchmount 12,000 lb winch.. Might have to go for another 1 inch of lift in the rear, if I keep hauling around the equivalent of a small Jeep, in the back. LOL
yeah thats alot of weight but i guess it comes in handy when your out in the middle of nowhere. it still has a really nice stance though and i'm glad the guys sent me the pics. its one thing i have noticed that if you don't have a little extra lift in the back and probably new rear leafs like @19Tim69 pointed out, if you have people or stuff in the back, the rear tends to sag a little.

really appreciate everybody's help so far. im taking the rear axle to the drivetrain shop today for bearings and seals and he said he would look at the pinion assembly on the front and help me make sure that goes back in right. so while he redoes the rear axle, i will hopefully put the ring gear and pinion back in front this weekend and hopefully have some good lead paint pics to post if it works out. probably should let him do the front too but i have a buddy who wants to learn gear change outs and my blazer is the "guinea pig"

a friend of mine found out I was wire brushing the frame and offered his buddy's sandblasting outfit. with 120cfm, it took 600lb of sand and 20 minutes to get to this. wish I had known about this thing before the 3+ hrs of wire wheeling!

ring gear and pinion went back in yesterday and after measuring all the shims individually and putting the identical size ones back in from the kit they way they came out we ended up with a backlash of .007 inch which is, thank God, within spec. stan at stan's drivetrain and machine was nice enough to look at the pinion assembly and the problem was that somebody had taken out the inner baffle and decided to add an outer baffle(which the dana 44 front doesn't have). also they took out the outer slinger for some reason. fortunately, all that stuff came in the Yukon kit and we put it back together according to the diagram and i'll post some paint test pics soon. anyway it worked out and a good time was had by all, beers were drank and we learned a few things

Yeah when you get time to think about it, you revise the plan in your mind.

some builds take years, some don’t. Some guys like the tiny details to be perfect, others see an opportunity to drive it sooner

In the end, hopefully it is what you want

man I would be thrilled if I was driving in 4 years. i'm still in the "I cant believe I'm doing this/having a whole lot of fun" phase so i'm going to try to resist burnout or impatience as the project goes on. my goal is to have a rolling chassis by end of summer and be motor shopping then

minor progress, frame mostly painted. left the steering box spot bare because I've been waiting on ord for over a week to send the frame repair plates. got the new rear springs from sdtrucksprings insanely cheap at around $200(thanks @19Tim69) . today I have to try to find a balljoint adjuster sleeve socket or I guess i'll order one. lots of little things holding me up but hopefully will have some significant progress soon

one thing I forgot to mention is when I was ordering longer u bolts to accommodate the 1 inch zero rate add a leaf up front, I discovered I have a first generation 2 3/4inch tube axle. fortunately, the guy at ord (their customer service cannot be beat IMHO) made me measure before ordering. their tech guy said that happens all the time and early in the transition years, they would have axles laying around the factory from the previous year that they would use up first. crazy
