OK...

I've got the hardtop off my '74 stored at my parents and they're selling their place.

The top was in rough shape when I got the truck, so I put it out back and haven't used it since. (14 years ago).

Now that they're leaving, I need to decide what happens to the top:

1) Junk it
2) Save it

Most of my reasoning tells me to junk it since I don't use it. (Blazer is a summer truck stored in the garage).

However, I'm having trouble convincing myself to dump it since it exists and I don't know if I'll be able to find one in the future if I want to put one on the Blazer.

So... I need your thoughts!

Junk it, or save it in case I want it someday?

If its easy to get and you have a place to store it I would keep it. Probably not too easy to find another for those years. My kids use mine as a garage for their toys.

You could contact craig "priceygmc" on here, he lives in fremont/holton area, works in muskegon. He has 2 full vert rigs of that era, and may take it off your hands.

I can get you his number by pm if you want.

Maybe repurpose it to justify keeping it "just in case"? Use it for a roof over a kennel or wood pile. Build 3 walls and use it for the top of a shed?

Or Rivman is doing a full vert swap. Not sure if he could use another top or not.

I will be going full vert but summer only rig.

If this was a first gen top I'd say junk it. I junked mine and there are plenty of those around if I change my mind. The 73-75 tops 'seem' more rare though so I hesitate. That one is in pretty rough shape though so I'd lean towards junking it.

I tried selling mine several years ago. Couldn't even give it away for free either. So I cut it up and trashed it. Don't miss it one bit.

I made a thread with pics of this cutting ceremony when I did it back when. Can't find it now.

My advice is if you think there is a small possibility you might decide to use it, keep it. If you find one in better shape then junk it or get rid of it.

I've gotten rid of too many things that I ended up wishing I still had. Now that I have the space I keep everything that I might have a use for, my wife hates it but I've burned myself too many times

If you plan to junk it, let me know. I'd like to build a top similar to what Zimmer has for my full vert swap, and would rather not chop up the other top I have.

To confirm, this is off a 1974.
Full convertible, square body style.
I know there aren't many of these few years out there in the world any more.

Don't junk it. There are no NOS.

This is what keeps me wanting to hold on to it.

I'll look at it again this weekend while I'm down there and figure out how hard it will be to relocated it to my place.

Any other thoughts are appreciated.
