This truck is new to me. I’ve been improving it since I got it. It is rust free and well taken care of. It was a show truck 15-20 yrs ago. Had three tv screens, Xbox, leds and stuff like that. Took all that stuff out and making it better. Someone else thought those straps were cool. Like old Italian cars.

Maybe do the axles next year or after they break

That may not be too long. Start looking now and get some. I broke several rear ten bolts and one twelve bolt just by stuffing the pedal to the floor on blacktop. That was with a 500 lb/ft big block. I wont even go into how many 1/2, 3/4 ton fronts I broke. The D60/14FF has held up, so far.

Myself, I would use a 4L80 with a 241. The overdrive would be nice and a 241 has a better low range than a 205. The 205 is what you want if you want to add a doubler.

I broke a 12 bolt with a stock smog era 350, backing out of a parking stall. 1/2 ton diffs and big blocks are a bad mix...

Nonsense!!!!!!
It's just tempting fate!!!
I have 35K on mine!
But I don't have a 555, and I am an old grandpa with it..

I have a pair of 10's under my Blazer, with the 5.3 for power. Both have been gone through and neither have a Gov-lock. My tire size is also modest at only 33". There is a place for 1/2 tons diffs, I just don't believe behind a 555" BBC is the place. Let's look at it this way, you have this gnarly 555" BBC, and you're gonna drive it carefully and gently 100% of the time?

I'm not knocking 1/2 ton diffs (much) but I am being realistic I think. I predict a 12 bolt explosion in the first 1000 miles.

I do too. My rear ends broke with 31s and 33s. I broke 4 axles up front in one year on 35s. I put a big block in because the small block just didn't cut it and it would cost too much to get the same power out of an LS. With a 700 lb/ft 555 I would care to bet he will floor it more than once and that is all it will take to blow a 12 bolt to shreds. I've done it with 500 lbs.

I grenaded a 12bolt with a third or less the amount of torque. In it's defense it was 40 + year old setup with nothing more than changing fluids. But behind that monster it's just a ticking time bomb.

My buddy has a 496 making less power than that and his builder has him running 2 1/8" long tube headers. They are huge!
