Mikkelsen submitted a new Build:

74' K10 Mikkelsen build

Well I love seeing builds so I thought people might like to see mine.

The truck belonged to my dad Tim Mikkelsen Sr. years ago. He passed away when I was 12. Mom sold it a few years later. Then in 04/05 the guy who bought it sold it to me. In all honesty I knew nothing about trucks at the time. Still think I barely know anything but I do love the truck.

In 07 or 08 the fuel system started giving me issues and a buddy suggested to TPI and 3/4 ton it. Well then it began...

Here is a Pic from 1995 or so. When my dad was screwing around.

If I can find the pics i will upload the frame cleaning, sanding, and paint. I have installed a 1 ton set of axles. Disc brakes all around along with new lines. A 4" shackle flip. Let me find some pics of progress along the way.

Awesome man, been wondering if you were making any progress on this or if you had finished it.

Nope. Found your problem.

Try it out with Google Chrome or Firefox (different browsers)

Some recent pics

Here are some recent pics. The paint is close to done it needs a final sand a buff after reassembly. All seals in the cab have been replaced and the glass is all in.

The interior has been lined along with the bed. The undercoating of the cab and box could have been better. Other than that they did pretty good. I should have done the underside myself and saved some $.

The motor is a 74 block with 87 TPI (We think) and we know the Serp setup is off a 92. I have learned it would have been easier to just have a Serp setup and the TPI out of the same vehicle.

Fuel lines are a whole other headache so when I attach take those photos I will go into more detail.

The truck has a TH400 now along with a 205. Driveshafts will need to be made as I have gone from a TH350 and a Part time converted 203.

The tank is going to be mounted in the spare tire carrier spot. Once I have the brackets finished being made by a friend.

Also I had nice 4.10 3/4 tons in it and decided to switch those back out and go to the D60 and a different 14BFF with disc.

So far for things I should have thought about more or not done. I will offroad it but not to the extreme of really needing a D60. Maybe I will be wrong. :dunno:

Complete TPI setup including Serp Setup.

I had a rebuilt set of 3/4 tons and still opted to go to the D60

I had a rebuilt TH350 and still opted for a TH400

I would not have to put in new driveshafts as I am on the same lift size.

I would undercoat it myself knowing what I know now. Also could have saved some good money bedlining myself but they did well with that.

Overall I will be happy with the end result, but I would be done if I had left some of it alone. :doah:

more pics

Here are some interior pics. The friend that did the body work did a really great job. Took a long time but awesome. From the floorboards to the dings and dents. I should have snapped some pics of the cab after sandblasting.

As for the lining. I had some sound deadner sheets rolled onto the floor before it was lined. I think it will deaden sound pretty good. And I do not have to worry about carpet or rubber mat. The interior will get corbeau buckets and the wiring will be set to have the stereo and all either in the console or in a custom box I build that will sit behind the seats.

The stereo spot in the truck will get filled with a stock stereo for look I think.

I will take some more detailed pictures of the whole truck and the progress made since these were taken.
