'75 K5 Project- "Old School"

After a few more mild adventures, decided to head out on a 2 day trip in the desert with a buddy of mine before it got too hot. All was well until a routine crossing of the Santa Maria river on the main road. I found a sink hole where the water collects above the granite below the sand. You can't see it, can't know it's there, until you step or drive on it. DOH!

We had to snatch block me out from the back. I had been relying on using a small sling around the axle to pull from. In this case, I'm glad it was only sand and water. Had it been mud, I would have risked breaking a spring or shackle, or worse. I decided it was time for dedicated rear recovery points. I wanted something that didn't look like ass, and still keep the factory bumper.

Sorry man, those are all I have.

No, I put that intake on when I rebuilt the motor, had it laying around in the shed. Just got tired of the ethanol troubles during the summer with the q jet. FI solved that nonsense.

What made you change the truck Fred? I figured you were just going to rock it stock until the rust won out.

Awesome update/ upgrade
Did you do anything special to the distributor as far as wiring.
I have the same kit and everything I've read was to get a special distributor to lock the timing out.

That's if you want to utilize timing control and based on the pics it looks like he's kept the timing stock using the HEI distributor. @mrk5 has a sniper setup with timing control if you want to take a look at his crew cab build.

Yeah Brent, I was but the ride wasn't very good, and I wanted some improvements. I'm not changing it from here on out, I bought a Jeep for the hard stuff:D

Yep, Like Mr. Skunked said, kept the stock HEI. Didn't use the Holley timing control wiring, it's an option to use it or not..
