i know how you feel. winter sucks, especially new york winters. i want to get mine so its "drivable" cause we both know its never "done". i can't wait to see your K5 when its done.

well I got you guys some pictures of the body bushing and cab support. They are booth just loosely bolted in as of rite now. I had to make the steel support plate that you see in the second picture because mine was rooted away with the rest of the cab support. Then I got the rocker and floor pan placed on there but I think I might still have some structural sugary to do. The part of the rail that the cab support and bushings bolt to is like paper thin so I mite fab up a patch and replace that small section of the rail just for piece of mind. Other then that check out the FREE SNAP-ON trainee jack i scored from work.

It's hard to get a full picture because it's cramped in the tent besides it's not really a whole truck yet . But i did go out to my state park office today and get a 4x4 beach vehicle fishing permit for my dd 2002 silverado 4x4

haven't down any work on the truck lately just got a job in a body shop with spray booth axes so hopefully that will work to my advantage. Its getting warmer so hopefully Ill get allot done on the truck soon.

Finialy did something on the truck. For starters I sandblasted the heater box that I got from ebay. Second I was told that you caint topcoat over POR15. So i have to strip it all off of the firewall beacuse im gona be painting the firewall the color of the body. So I started stripping the firewall with a DA sander and some 80 grit paper. ill get some pictures up as soon as i get some more done.I know i move like a snail but hopefully it will be in color buy the end of the mounth. The fire wall that is. Im gona spray it with a single stage paint so i wont have to deal with clear coating it. Once The fire wall is painted I can put the engine in. I managed to get a free running 307 out of a 67 or 68 camaro. Its got chrome moroso valve covers and a chrome air cleaner on it. It must be fast. Its also got a 2bbl carb witch sucks, but soon ill be getting a 350 out of a 74 corvet to drop in there.

I got the crossmember and the motor mounting brackets off. this way ill be able to clean and POR15 the frame wear the motor sits. I had to whip out the torch :weld: and cut some of the bolts off but I managed to get everything off in one piece. Here are some pictures.

I know you may have already stripped the POR-15 off the firewall, but I wanted to throw in my $.02.

You can topcoat over POR-15, in fact according to the POR15 site:

"CAN I PAINT OVER POR-15 WITH OTHER PAINTS?
Absolutely. POR-15 will accept all paints, including lacquer-based paints. POR-15 Tie-Coat Primer is the best prime coat to use before topcoating POR-15. Be sure to read thoroughly our directions and tip sheets regarding topcoating before using POR-15."

"POR-15® is sensitive to UV light (sun) and must be topcoated for prolonged exposure to sunlight." they wouldn't say this if you couldn't topcoat it...

Best results involve using their tie coat or self etching primers, though you can get good adhesion by roughing POR15 til the sheen is dulled.

This is probably too late, but for future reference.

I hope your not lifting with that cinder block:eek1::shame:

I work in a body shop. i was told by my boss that he POR15 the frame of a chevelle after sanding the balls out of it. He laid paint on it and then took an air blower and it all chipped and peeled rite off. So ide rather take his word for it. And 2 it will look much better and smoother if i were to strip the firewall down to the metal and primed it with a spray gun.

And by the way its not to late but im gonna do it anyway for a better job.

by no means do i want to discredit him...i'd take a friend's word over something i read on the internet anyday:wink1: haha, just thought i would clarify.

:thumb:truck is looking good so far, having it all one color will be nice...and i will be envious cuz mine is at least 5 atm:haha:

Yea thanks. Hopefully the firewall will be done in the next month or so. I work kinda slow and have a million things going on. Im probly gone do the frame in the engine bay in POR15 before I shoot the color on the firewall cuz i dont wana scratch or chip it when its all in color.

Well I got a heater box from ebay for 25 bucks. i was able to take it in to work and sandblast and prime it along with the bolwer motor. Thats one part down that has to go on the firewall. i still have to get the master cylinder and brake booster ready 4 primer and paint to. hopefully ill get back on the truck next weekend. This weekend comming up i have a race. Ive been racing champ karts lately these things go wicked fast. Around 65 miles an hour there so fun. the only drawback is that they take time away from working on the truck. But its worth it ill get some pictures of the gokart up soon.

So I was able to prep the frame in the engine bay for POR15. I still have to take some pictures before I put the paint on it. I still have a few nooks and cranies to grind down but for the most part its ready to go. Hopefully I get the paint on it next saterday so thats another job done and I can start preping the firewall for primer. I will get some pictures up asap.
