76 k5 build thread -- gaps suck

I got primer and color on the inside of the cap, the master cylinder, brake booster, and the hood stiffeners. I ran out of paint so I didn't get a chance to paint the inside of the fender or the header panel. I also didn't get a chance to weld the roof skin on but one thing at a time.

Yea the truck is far from paint but I am painting as many parts as I can so I can have them all ready to put on as soon as I am ready. And there are lots of parts.
 
I got off again today because the shop is still slow so I am now in the middle of welding:weld: the roof skin on the truck. I laid a nice heavy coat of POR 15 down on the rusty inner roof then I put the new/ used skin on lined it up and I am in the process of welding rite now but its got time for lunch and a ck5 update. Pictures will come later today ofcoures.
 
does the roof include replacing the a-pillars? I need to replace them on my truck and was looking for pictures or advice on it.
 
Im just replacing the skin aka the top layer of sheet metal. Im not cutting down in to the pillars. I will have some pictures of the progress up later. The truck is at the point wear there is nothing else to take apart so all I have left to do is put it all back together.
 
Sorry guys I didint get the pictures up yet. It makes the suspence better lol. I caint wait to drive this dam truck allready.
 
I found that dam camera wire. It was at my girlfriends house. Go figure I mean it's her camera in the first place. LOL So here it is the new roof skin is done all it needs now is some grinding and a good shot with the DA to strip it down to the bear metal. Then it gets a nice coat of epoxy primer that you can do body work over. That 3rd pic is of my ground aka a nail that i welded on to the panel. And that last picture is a sneak preview of whats to come tomorrow.

I got my back seat in 3/4 of the way I had to move hat stupid motor out of the way. I drilled holes for the front and bolted the hinges down. I then marked the holes and cut out for the back latches. I still have some trimming to do but its almost done and ready to weld in. Then I can cross one more thing off the list. Pics are coming soon

I got the latch plate 3/4 of the way welded in and the dam welder ran out of wire. I had to go to the nearest home depot and get more but i did not continue welding i had other stuff to do. Notice I didn't say better stuff lol.

I got more wire for the welder so 2marrow I will finish mounting the rear seat plates. I also found the missing head to the engine Stand so i can rip that 2speed powerglide off of the motor and get it up on the stand so I can de geaese it and paint it with the spray bombs so it wont look like dick. before I drop it in I need to still put some color on the firewall and im gona change the rear main seal in the tranie while it is opean. Im also thinking of changing the heater core just beacuse everything is opean.
 
I got the engine and tranie apart 2day and the engine on the stand ready for cleaning. I also finished welding the first seat plate in. 2marrow ill get the second one in and that will be one more thing off the list.
 
I got the back seat finished it is totally mounted heres how it went. I finished just before I ran out of gass on the welder. Hopefully I can get good heater and keep plugging away on the truck this winter. Its all starting to finally come back together.

Got a bunch of work i can do on the truck this week. I hope to get the firewall in color buy the end of the week that would be nice so hopefully that will get done. I have to put the tranie seal in and finish degreasing the motor. So I can paint that as well.
 
well its been cold as hell I think it was like 8 degrees with the wind chill here today but I am finialy gona pony up for a nice space heater tomarrow cuz now I got the money from christmas. So hopefully i will be able to continue my work as soon as I can get some heat in the tent. Beacuse I have lots to do. Im in the market for a hood preferably a gm hood cuz the aftermarket one i mounted on the truck folded in half before i got a chance to close it.
