I have a all original 74 K20 with full time 4x4. I am getting ready to order the mile marker 502 kit to convert it to part time but I am not sure what the correct hubs are to replace the stock “drive slugs”. Are the hubs the same as a half ton axle or different? Thanks

They should be different than a 1/2 ton, the early 3/4 ton used (6) 3/8 dia bolts to hold the flange on. Hubs that you're looking to buy should in some way be described as "external" mounted.

If you have slugs it's the same as the 1/2 ton.
There was never external slugs with gm.
If it's a d44 it's the same in 1/2 or 3/4ton

Do you have a picture of your hub and the slug?

External slugs?
I am not doubting you but if they did I want to know.
Do you have a picture?

No pictures because it happened in the mid 80's but @spicer (who doesn't get on CK5 anymore) bought a 3/4 ton '74 Sub that had flanges. The flange is just like a dodge external flange with a dust cap (and different bolt pattern).

It's been so long I forgot, the '76 3/4 ton big hub D44 that I put in my old K10 had slugs. I never ran them though, I swapped them for a set of Spicer hubs during the axle build.

Thanks for all the replies guys. It definitely has the external hub design, the cap with 6 hex bolts. @imiceman44 tell me about your hubs for sale? I found a kit on summit for 130$ that comes with the wedges for the transfer case and a set of hubs and it says it’s for a 3/4 ton.
