Found a great deal on a brand new warn 8000lb winch, but is it goin to big enough and me not burn it up with K5 with all the extra wieght addons ? using snatch blocks and all that i know it will work but isnt there a bigger risk of burning it up pulling that heavy of a load all the time ?

really dont wanna buy this winch and burn it up

The rule of thumb is 1.5 times the GVWR. Should just be enough winch.

An 8000lb is enough for most people unless you are going to use it alot for super heavy pulls. A snatch block goes a long way to helping the life span of a winch.

Never had a problem with one that's 10 years old, and just bought an 8274 this Spring and it's perfect. Unless ya run yer friggin' battery down........

my buddy was trying to winch me out of a mudhole with an 8,000 lb winch, and it was not happening. that was my experience. I would just save up and buy the 12,000lb. thats my opinion.:D

i have a 8k x8000i warn with a snatch block it yanks my longbed on 40's every time no problem. Just buy a snatch block and your good to go. A 12k winch would be better, but depends on the deal/situation. Ive heard of the m8000 warn winches burning up, wouldn't get that model. If mud/water get in there they burn up for sure.

Dontoe and I used ours to pull us up slickrock at Tellico, neither 8274 showed signs of slowing. Makes me wish I had one sooner.
