Ok
can anyone tell me if 1982 K5's came from the factory with manual locking hubs?

i am thinking of buying one, but i thought that year came out with auto locking hubs.

yes, manual locking hubs were an option or possibly standard equipment from the factory. My 85 had factory manual locking hubs.

my 82 came with warn premium manual locking hubs. it is the silverado package but i dont know it that has any effect on the drivetrain. hope this helps.

are you sure they were the Warn Premiums not that Warn Standards. GM use Warn Standard hubs as there "deluxe" hub from the factory. My K5 was the Sierra Classic (same as Silverado) Edition with all the options and had Warn Standards.

My 86 came with manual locking hubs so like everyone else has said Im sure they do.

My 82 came with auto hubs. I have seen some come with Spicer lock-outs, but never Warns... Could be that the PO switched from the crappy autos to the manual hubs.

Up to 1980 all trucks with manual locking hubs were Spicers and 1981 on up were a regular version of Warns locking hub ( without the Warn sticker on them ) -- Note : this is only true for those trucks that came with manual locking hubs , the full time and auto locking stuff had there own styles.

As far as I know a locking hub was always offered as an option on a solid axle 69 to 91 truck.

There is one exception that I can think of - A 1981 K-30 still offered a Spicer Hub and than in 1982 they went with the Warn style.

ok thanks for the knowledge thrown my way with those responses.

so is an 82 K5 a good year for K5's?
