anyone know what the mid 80s F150 2wd pickups had for a 4 speed tranny, with 300 six in front of it*

im curious,

i was just looking at this one a block over from here, i could get cheap,

hum

thanks

my father in law has an 82 with a 302 and a 4 speed overdrive (only 4 gears)...not sure exactly what you call it...but is an alum case with a tin top cover...should be easy to i.d.

no, this is the big top loader 4 speed, iron case like they all are AFAIK, 420 465 etc..

i think youre thinking of those little full-aluminum side loader aluminum 4 speed plus OD in some of the 80s pickups- chevy and dodge used a few of these trannies too.. ive seen a couple before.. theres info on the net somewhere on these, i forgot the model of this tranny, hmm..

435 is definitely common tranny put in fords and and actualyl im sure it is the 435 in this one im looking at, i just forgot about ford using them so commonly, unlike GM,
i cant recall EVER seeing an F150 with a 4 speed in it, ever, i assumed it was auto just like 99% of them seem to be, until i asked and looked and i was like wow its a 4 speed, thats pretty different and wierd looking :D evne the owner said auto atg first then he retracted and said manual, and that was after he actually glanced inside real quick lol.

thanks

well i checked it out yesterday and well it runs like crap, fuel pump is leaking externally and laso into crankcase and it misses and the cabr is screwy, the carb is an old non computer one and the truck was a computer carb,

the tranny is a truck toploaded but its a ford brand cast one, its not a granny first 4 speed like the NP's and 465's and 420s and such

i didnt know ford made a top loader too,

did chrysler ?

anyways im not giving any 200 for this one, but if it were running right then i would of

thanks

Could also be a T19... they have an iron top cover. They are regarded as the close-ratio box - only have 4.xx 1st gear, not a 6.xx like the NP435.

yeh is close ratio in it

probably is T18 or 19 or whatever then, but its ford cast case though, fomoco casting in it

whatever 4 speed aluminum trans ford made in the 80s is what it is

must be rare

so i dunno,

Is it possibly a 3spd + OD?

This is Ford's 'RTS' 3 speed with OD used from 84-87
