Picked up a 84 Jimmy for $800, stock with no modifications. 305 slug with the 700r & 208 combo.

Typical rust you would expect to find and interior all there and not bad condition.

All in all i feel i got a good deal.

Ok, now for the build plans......

D60/14BFF combo
Motor swap
Suspension lift
Swap to a T400/205-203 Doubler TC ( At a later date when $ allows )
Rust repair
Color change ( not a fan of the red )
X over steering
Rear disk brake conversion

So about 2 weeks of searching for parts to gather a buddy of mine shows up at the shop ready to do some " Horse trading ".

Long story short I end up with his 79 chevy PU with most of the goodies im lookin for.

Here is the start of my Sierra Classic build......

Pics of when i first got her.

As most of you know, its hard having parts laying around starring, taunting me to begin the swap.

FOR THE RECORD, when i can afford to do a frame off restoration, thats when i will rebuild, prep & paint all parts.

Till then i want to install and have some fun.

The swap begins....

Used the front rear hanger off the donor p/u to do the shackle flip, gonna replace it with the ORD or DIY4X shackle flip soon.

Had to make a Zero rate for the rear to move back wheel 1.5" to center it.

Decided to leave in the 700r & 208TC, there both in good condition with little or no abuse on them.

As for the " Boat Anchor " 305, gotta go.

I realize i have no pics of the motor installed, once its up and running will post.

So since ive been on CK5 site, found ALOT of great threads.

The one i couldnt resist to do is the 52" swap, not only very simple but very cost effective.

Made some temporary shackles from 3/8" steel and used the metal i cut out from the hole saw to weld back in the old hole.

So im wainting on some misc. parts, shocks, brake lines, x over steering.

NorthWest Fabworks will have my X over steering to me by Friday.

Will post some more progress pics.

Thanks for looking!

Teach her how to drive a stick. I use to use that trick to get laid back in the day. Take them out to the pasture so they have a wide open space with no traffic, and put the transfer case in Low (with the hubs unlocked). They can't kill it that way, and it builds their confidence.

What was wrong with the donor truck? It looked pretty solid.

Also definitely keep the SM465, way better than the 700r4.

For right now im gonna run the 700r/208. Im keepin the SM465 not to mention it has a 205 attached to it and i have all the parts to convert to manual.

That's what I was wondering as well.

As for the donor truck " Good from far, Far from good ".

Lol, you need to come here and look at the rigs that are that old. That donor "junk" rig woulda qualified as rust free in great condition here lol. Next truck yoyr gonna bring to the crusher, bring it to a junkyard first. No reason to crush panels that can no longer be made with real metal.

Recieved my X over steering Friday, gotta like when a shop tells you it be there Friday and it is.

Thanks to Chris @ NorthWestFabWorks.

Still have to pick up a 2WD steering box and the weld in frame plates, other than that rest of the parts are in.
