howdy folks, this is my first build thread so stick with me till i get it figured out. So im starting with a stock 84 k5 blazer 305/350/203 and 10 bolts front and back. it hasnt had an oil change since 2000 but she started up right away. the brakes leak but i got her home safely with the trailer. I have been waiting to dig in to her since before she was actually mine and now i have some money and time i will have one hell of a post when i am done and hopefully on hell of a rig too.

glad to see you started one. now we can both keep up progress of the beaters

well im planning to put a regular cab on it and cage the rear to house the fuel cell and the recovery equipment. one tons and 35s and maybe a 350 if i can find a four bolt main for a reasonable price.

hows everyone doing? sorry its been so long but i have been down south for some training. but here is where i left off the night beforwe i left. before torch.jpg
I had takin the top off to get easier access to the rear. now it was time for the fun part. i got a torch set for christmas and it was time to put it to the test.( now realize a sawzall or grinder with a cut off wheel would have done just fine, it just wouldnt have been as much fun.
after torch.jpg now here she is present day. the frame is strong and all the cross members are there and intact. im going to move the fuel tank to right bahind the cab and then reinforce the frame all the way, front to back.

i got bored down south so i took about two minutes and knocked out this rough draft of what i want it too look like soon.

glad to see you updated...do u have a color choice? maybe a tan color:whistle:

cant wait to get them wheelin

Are you sure it has an NP203 transfer case? They quit using them in 1979. Someone would have had to of swapped that in there.

Martin

thanks guys you caught that before i did, i thought that i had a np 203 but it is the chain driven np 208.

Now on to the next topic, should i put that generation cab on it or should i put an 88-98 body style on it. i have access to the 88-98 cab but i cant get my hands on a older cab thats in good condition. any input will be helpfull and also used in the final decision, thanks.

Why did you cut up the tub if you are going to swap a cab on it???

Martin

i dont have the equipment to take the body off as one so i cut it up, there was almost nothing worth saving on it other then the rear quarter panels which will be going back on the rear tube bed.

new parts

well i picked up a 77 power wagon cucv with 3/4 ton axles. im just swap those under the blazer and boatr side it shortly. i know its been a while since i have been on but uncle sam got in the way a little bit. but i have funding and im back home so the work shall start again.
