I acquired this truck in a trade with my dad for my 86 k5 on 37 boggers. I got screwed on the deal when our relationship went south right after hs and later found out he never had the truck registered in his name. I drove it for a few months until dps wrote me out a nice long tickect and put a pretty dent in my wallet. The truck has been sitting since summer 06 with only a few occasional start ups. I finally got the title issue taken care of and now its time to put it back on the road. It had some legality issues and a few things that need fixed though.

Problems to be fixed:
Front 10 bolt was blown when I received it and had no internals or lockouts
The p/o had some interesting ideas on wiring a truck ...all was removed:eek1:
No stereo any more
no cats / glass packs rattled
Parking brake cable was cut under front of cab when p/o put on body lift
Cheap headers were a serious pain to work with always leaked and burned collectors were welder to exhaust pipe
plug wires were burnt
Coil was going south
Headlights were horrible 2 burned out
Grille was crushed in after pushing a customers truck in the shop
Seat only had 1 bolt holding it down
Shocks were trashed
Brake lines were limiting straps
Gauges didn't work/ couldn't see em at nite
Dash pad was trashed
Glove box door was broke
Quadrajet was running extremely rich and after countless hours of tuning I threw in the towel
Carter electric Fuel pump was pulling 30 amps and then blowing fuses rated at 4amps..
Steering was sketchy at best and had a leaking gear box
sway bar bushings were toast
Dual tanks wouldn't switch over / ! had a rust whole and were annoying off road/ fuel sending units was bad

New parts added:
holley 670cfm truck avenger
edlebrock performer intake
k/n air filter
Holley red fuel pump w/ regulator

10 front w 4.10's 30spl aburn posi/warn premium lockouts, dana 44 flattops milled and drilled, new bearings and ball joints new gears totally rebuilt ...Got a smoking deal so it works for now..d60 search in progress...

The reason I picked up the front end for a song.. Was once under a samari and had the spring perch moved then a 4 link was added.. 6hrs with a grinder and a relocated driver spring perch and I was good to go again

bender stand I threw together to make shock hoops for the fox shox just need to get the oxygen filled so I can cut out a top and bend the tube accurately.. I made the uprights with the bender sitting on the table w/ a hf 8 ton ram and a tape measure...

Well this is what ive been up to lately. I would have been done alot sooner but i had a pretty serious atv acident that put me out of work for 2months and messed up my left hand bad enough for emergency surgery and 58 stiches.. I was told Id never be able to wrench again.. haha ya right.. the day I started rehab i was tld this .. I then went home and removed my front axle.. lol :D

Plans are to fab and install shock hoops tomorrow and have shocks mounted
I'm waiting on my fuel cell and the rest of the exhaust and fuel parts from summit so I can build the cross member and skid plate under the bed and finish plumbing and running exhaust.
I need to install ignition still
finish hooking up parking brake
Build a new battery box/mount and get a new battery possibly duals
Install 100 amp alt
Fix crack by steering box and install steering brace

I'm planning on swapping out the 14sf for a 14ff at the end of the month. $600 tax refund thing is going towards 5.13's front and rear and a detriot will get put in the new 14ff. I'm still debating on weather to go disk out back since its a dd and it stops on a dime as it is.

Once the new rear end is in I'll order 2 more fox shox and build a rear x-over and mounts for them. Id like to link the rear just to do it since ive had a few people inquire about me building their suspension but id rather do it myself first so I have the experience. Other than that I plan on using this as my dd since work is less than a mile away and until I finish school this will probably be all ill have unless gas goes nuts.. Then a bike may be in order.

I'd like to thak everyone on this board. Ive learned so much its hard to believe, Ive even be able to start a small fab 4x4 shop on the side. Im now getting into the fab side and loving the ideas im able to gain from other members projects. If you see some where I screwed up or a place I can improve don't hesitate to say so.

Thanks Guys,
Cory:truck:

Too bad you can't get your grinder and wrenches and install a 6 inch lift in your Dad's honor level! Sorry bout the raw deal.
If you swapped sides in your Diamond plate door lowers wouldn't the speakers sound better exiting in the open rather than into the seat? if magnets are too big a spacer? It would also hit softer when the door slams being closer to the hinge.

So far so good just my 2cents Bailey

Ya it SUCKS but HE GOT HIS.. he runs a offroad shop that i started but has no clue what hes doing. Ive been doing lifts in my garage on my days off since. I'm averaging about 4 a month rite now. Its to the point where i need my own shop. what goes around goes around karmas a B$^%*! I would have mounted the speakers like that but If I remember right there was something in the way. I'll check it out though just to be sure. But yes you are correct they would sound much better mounted forward. I plan to fade them to the rear quite a bit once I have my components figured out and installed. They sound incredibly clear tho since they are being pushed by the amp you almost don't notice it. I'm planning on the set of boston acoustics components to go in and take care of most of the mids and highs. The tweeter will go at the top of the a pillar in a fiberglass housing adn the mid driver in a enclosure facing out toward the passenger and driver from the tranny hump.

The interior Is going back together today, Ill throw some pics up when I finish. Sbc 350 bored .30 over flattop piston, ported 882 heads, mild cam, moly push rods, electric holley red fuel pump, holley truck avenger 670, eldebrock performer intake. Nothing special but it will boil 40's with 4.10's so im happy...for now.. Trans and tcase are stock as well and untill I have a problem neither is going to be changed. .. 700r4 w/ lock up, np208 with a rear shaft that needs lengthened. I have a mild 700r4 and a twin sticked np205 in the garage if this combo ever fails.... Any more questions feel free to ask..
