will not start. i thought for sure it would work. there is the 3 wires. 2 for the big post and one for the small post. didnt start. move the small wire to the other post. still didnt start.

could the starter be different? thanks
 
You may not be getting power to that purple wire on the solenoid,be sure the shifter is in neutral or park (neutral satety switch could be out of adjustment and shutting off the power to that wire that activates the solenoid)..you can have someone hold the key in the "crank" position and test the wire with a test lamp to see if it has power--or just jump the solenoid's large terminal with the battery cable on it to the small one the purple wire goes too with a screwdriver,if it cranks then ,you have a wiring problem,or the neutral safety is out of whack or defective,ignition switch maybe,etc..if its a manual tranny it has a switch on the clutch pedal that prevents cranking unless the clutch pedal is depressed fully--you can jump the wires on that or the neutral safety to see if they were the cause...
