Hello, I just bought a 1988 K5 Blazer and realized that it has no catalytic converter/s. Does anyone know if it should have one or maybe two? I have looked for some time on the net, and cant seem to find an answer. I don't want to waste my time, let alone the $$ by going to emissions, just for them to tell me it needs a cat. Any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks

My 88 had one. If you look under the truck the truck around where the drivers seat is iirc, you will see where the heat shield is for it. Unless that was removed as well.

Yep, one, on drivers side. Shield is indeed under the truck (or should be) somewhat "under" the drivers seat.

Of course, I'm assuming this is a gas truck, and was not a diesel originally.

Catalytic Converter

Thanks guys for the quick, helpful responses. Will be having one installed this week. Hopefully no problems getting through emissions. I am trying to have this thing together for my son who will be driving soon. Wish me luck!!
