I'm researching for a 89-91 quad light front clip swap on my truck, and have found a bit of a stumbling block. More than one source lists the quad light rad support as NOT fitting 7.4/6.2 trucks, meaning the larger rad does not fit between the headlights. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I'm hoping someone has a big block radiator installed in a quad light front end, and can tell me just how tight the fit is!

i go check with pics.

i got a single light 81-91 & a quad 89-91 unit. both out of trucks. so real easy.

89-91 quad light front clip.

81-91 6.2 radiator

it all fits just fine. sits in the factory spots for the rubber isolators and top of core support just fine. even clears the air inlet box.

Well thats awesome. And if a quad headlight 454 truck came from the factory, I wonder why that rad support was listed for 5.7 trucks only. Some People!

Thanks for the quick answers guys!

Does this change if I tell you that a 6.2 rad sits offset to one side 6" ? =)

Yes, but if the rad is sitting centered and barely fits, then when its 6" offset to one side, it won't fit. Thats all I'm asking. I really do appreciate the quick answers! and with pics!

The big 6.2 rad (with the offset to the driver side) will fit like Sweetk30 said, I installed one in my 91 K5 (original 5.7 w/ quad lights). The core support had a second spot for the lower rad mounting cushion and also had extra threaded holes on the upper rail for the top hold down.

One thing to note is that the diesel rad had bigger hose necks so the 454 hoses did not fit. I ended up having the top neck changed to the "correct" size and used a diesel hose on the bottom with a piece of rubber hose as a bushing to fit the water pump.

Thanks for the double verification. I already have a 6.2 in the truck, so the hose sizing is something I knew about. I originally had a 77 blazer painted yellow named the shortbus, did the trazer thing, went bigger and badder than what I really want, so am re-constructing the short bus with a 75 tub

the core support is set up for reg rad centered. then 6.2 is offset to driverside. thats all it is.

and like i posted info and pic of 6.2 rad in correct positions.
