Recon!
Maniac
So I have some axles on my balcony, they are from a CUCV. The D60 has one little problem, the assholes who took the axles out cut the studs for the front right spring pad.
The rear stud was easy because most of it was still there and I just use vise grips and man strength to remove it. The front stud is proving to be a major b!tch. It is flush with the housing, and has defeated every effort I've thrown at it thus far.
At first I drilled it and tried to easy out the mfer, but I broke the easy out. Then I figured I would chisel it out like so many bolts that break off on the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. They always come out with the proper application of a hammer and chisel. Well, even with retarded amounts of PB and WD40, it doesn't want to move. It just gets deformed by the chisel.
So I figure I would order up some heat, and I take a blow torch to the slut. I heat and heat and heat and heat some more. I am starting to run out of patience, and I try to chisel it out. No dice.
So I get on the interweb and order up some left hand drill bits. They show up today, and I get going good below the broken easy out. Get a nice hole drilled in it and try to get a chisel in the hole. Just deforming it more. Try to drill out a little bit bigger hole, and snap the damn drill bit into three f***ing pieces!
I tap in another easy out, and it starts threading in deep, and then gets a good bite, and promptly breaks right the phuck off. So now I have the hole completely plugged up, and I want to rip my skull off my neck.
Please give me good advise. I wish I had a plug in cheap welder so I could weld a nut to the damn thing and get on it with a breaker bar. But, I don't have a welder, know no one that has a portable 110 or 220, and worst of all, I don't know how to weld! If you guys can help me figure it out I will be grateful and will purchase beers for you regularly when we are together.
