Brodix Cylinder Heads, IK 180, Aluminum, Assembled, 64cc Chamber, 180cc $1000 for the pair

These are the heads I’ve settled on, I’m open to others if you have a convincing argument, it not over till I click the buy it now button.
Forgot what your cam specs are. But make sure to consider that and the CiD

And you were thinking aftermarket MPFI?

Lunati 20080660 Hydraulic Roller Tappet, Advertised Duration 279/287, Lift .447/.471.

Yes on aftermarket, I’m wanting to go Edelbrock pro flo 4, after reading the pro flo thread that’s been going on I’m sold, between that and my brother I’m talked out of trying to make the TBI stuff work.

The cam, now that I’m thinking pro flo could even change if needed. I really want to see 400+ at the crankshaft horsepower.

Cam may be a bit conservative for a 383. Having said that, maybe @beags86 will share some cam and compression numbers. Actual dyno pulls make it easier to gage where you are

The 350 in mine is .474/.510 lift, 9.75:1 and 200 cc head. GM rates it at 385 at the crank

Cam in the 406 is:
INT/EXH -
Dur @ .050” Lift: 230°/236° RR:1.5/1.5 Gross Lift: .544”/.555” LSA: 110° RPM:2300 to 5900 Redline: 6400

Compression is 10:1 on the button.

1.6 rockers, so thats bumped.

Yeah I was on this cam because I was headed the TBI route and this was TBI friendly. That’s out the window now so it’s back up for debate.
I want this to be well mannered on the street but on the more extreme side of things if that makes sense. It’s been sitting long enough I figure it deserves a healthy heart. I already have this cam, but I also already have a modded TBI so...I guess I can sell them as a package now! :haha:

You seen my cam specs, heads, etc, etc.
You losing some CI from my 406 from your 383. But there is not reason 400+ isn't attainable if you run something similar to what me and mark listed above.

I’m going to the shop tomorrow to figure out what I have for sure and figure out compression ratios and I’ll get more serious in making a choice

I’m doing something wrong here, I think it’s the pistons. I have the summit sum-17383C-30 pistons, how do I correctly input these numbers. I did my best guess and ended up with 4.76:1. I hope that’s wrong :doah:

I’m going cross eyed trying to figure out where I’m going wrong.

Barely 8.0:1, you could run it on swill and it won't ping. Moar squeeze dude. I don't remember if the heads you were looking were iron or aluminum, but if they are aluminum you can get away with more compression than you could iron.

I noticed the dish. Is that where they come out, 17cc?

Those are like supercharger numbers. Maybe just go that route...
Thank you! This looks better!

Anyone else think more compression would be better and still safely under the pump gas limits?

This a twin turbo build? You need to bump that up unless you want it to be a dog.
Or turbsky time...

Am I correct that the head gasket thickness is on the hefty side? I thought that lots were around .040, give or take some..
Not that I expect it to make a huge difference. Wouldn't some 64cc heads help it?

Gaskets won't bring it down enough not to be a pooch, plug 64 in that there machine and see what you get ..
